Tips For Expediting Interior Painting Projects

Posted on

Painting your home is a lot of work, but at least it's fulfilling when the job is complete. What can you do to reduce the time it takes to get the job done? Here, you'll find a few tips that will help you get it done faster.

Hire the Professionals

If you're in a crunch and need to get the job done as quickly as possible, your best bet is to hire the professionals in your area. If you're working too quickly, you will make a mess of the job, and things will not look as good as they should.

Tape the Trim

So many people make the mistake of thinking they can cut time from the task if they eliminate the taping step. Yes, you'll save some preparation time, but the finished result will not look as nice, and you will spend a great deal of time carefully trimming with a brush and wiping off the paint that you accidentally got on the things that you should have taped off.

Store Brushes and Rollers

Instead of washing out the brushes and rollers after each coat, store them. Pringles cans work perfectly for storing paint rollers. Before you stick the roller inside the paint can, cover it with plastic wrap. Brushes can be wrapped in plastic wrap. Then place the rollers and brushes in the refrigerator until it's time for the next coat of paint. Skipping the cleaning step between each coat will save you a good bit of time and money if you were to just throw them out instead of cleaning them.

The paint tray can also be covered with aluminum foil or plastic wrap to avoid the necessary cleaning step.

Don't Rush

Make sure that you allow each coat of paint the appropriate amount of time to dry fully before applying the next coat. If you apply paint over wet paint, it could bubble, peel, and crack when it dries. Keep the air circulating in the room to expedite the drying process – the more the air moves, the faster the paint will dry, but be careful that debris doesn't kick up and stick to the paint.

Start the project by talking with your local painters, like Braendel Painting. Chances are they'll get the job done better than you will, and they'll take much less time to do it. In the end, your home will have the refreshed look that you were hoping to achieve.
